PS4 Repair done properly, the first time.
The PS4 is over a decade old now, and the two failures we see most are dried-out thermal compound and a cracked HDMI port — both cheap to fix compared with replacing the console. We test HDMI output, drive health, and cooling behaviour on the bench and tell you plainly whether a repair is worth it on your model.
Overheating, jet-engine fan noise and shutdowns after ten minutes of play are almost always a cooling service: dust cleared from the heatsink, the fan replaced if the bearing is worn, and fresh thermal paste on the APU. PS4 consoles that will not output video, show a pulsing blue light or shut off instantly usually have an HDMI port or power-rail fault, which we diagnose at board level rather than guessing at a new console.
We also upgrade or replace the internal drive — swapping a tired hard drive for an SSD makes menus and load times noticeably quicker — reinstalling the system software and moving your games and saves across. Disc drives that no longer read or eject are repaired or replaced with the drive daughterboard pairing preserved, and DualShock 4 controllers get new analog sticks, trigger springs, batteries and charging ports.
